Reciclos

Reciclos Project

Ecoembes is a non-profit corporation that supervises the waste recycling put in the yellow and blue bins.

They wanted an app to track container labeling in an initiative to reward citizens for recycling.

This non-profit corporation started an initiative to reward citizens for recycling. People could scan a QR code in the container and earn points to exchange for gifts. The problem was that some containers were labelled twice or not labelled at all, so they needed to track the labeling.

The app should be intuitive and simple for the workers in order to use it quickly and with just one hand.

Users

To make the most useful and accesible app, we git to understand the context in what it was going to be used. Workers moved by motorcyles from one bin to another, and they had just a couple of minutes to place the QR code and confirm the labeling in the app. We decided the app had to be the simplest possible and very clear.

Visual Style

Ecoembes had its own visual identity, so it was clear that the primary color should be green. The green color represents the nature, health, grow and prosperity to convey the benefits of recycling. Moreover, the brand had their own font and set of illustrations. They also use radius in the borders of the elements to give harmony.

Information arquitecture

There was two type of users and two parts of the application. First, the workers who were going to use the app in their smartphones, and second, the supervisors who had to carry out the control of the bins labelled in their desktop computers. So there were two information architectures and each of them had to be very user friendly.

The solution

All the insights and conclusions were analized and finally it lead us to the final screens!

Conclusión

It was a challenge to design a product for users with little time and get to simplify the amount of information through the design. Thanks to the deep understanding of the situation, the app goals were covered.
